Dr. Broman has been registered in acupuncture with the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners since 1986.  He has found acupuncture to be an excellent complement to chiropractic treatment for a variety of chronic and difficult pain syndromes.

Acupuncture is an effective form of treatment that has evolved into a complete holistic health care system.  Practitioners of acupuncture have used this noninvasive treatment method to help millions of people become well and stay well.  Acupuncture promotes natural healing.  It can enhance the recuperative power of immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function and well-being.  It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of health-related problems.

When acupuncture is combined with chiropractic treatment it augments the bodies’ recuperative strength to reduce pain and enhance healing.  At the core of this ancient art is the philosophy that Qi  (pronounced “chee”) flows throughout the body.  Qi animates the body, protects it from illness, pain and disease.  A person’s health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of Qi.  Qi flows through specific pathways called meridians.  There are 14 main meridians inside the body.  Each of these is connected to a specific organ or gland.
Meridian pathways are like rivers flowing inside the body. Where a river flows, it transports life-giving water that provides nourishment to the land, plants and people.  Similarly, where meridian pathways flow they bring life-giving Qi that provides nourishment to every cell, organ, gland, tissue and muscle within the body.

An obstruction to the flow of Qi is like a dam. When Qi becomes backed up in one part of the body the flow becomes restricted in other parts.  This blockage of flow of Qi can be detrimental to the person’s health, cutting off vital nourishment to the body organs, glands and muscles.  How is Qi disrupted?  Physical and emotional stress, lack of exercise, over exertion and seasonal changes, poor diet, accidents or excessive activity are among the many things that can influence the quality, quantity and balance of Qi.  When the blockage or imbalance is corrected the body easily bounces back, returning to a state of health well-being.  However, when this disruption is prolonged or excessive, or if the body is weakened due to illness, pain or disease, disruption and blockage can set in.  Once the imbalances of Qi are detected an acupuncturist places fine sterile needles at specific acupoints along the Meridian pathways.  This safe and painless insertion of needles can unblock obstruction and balance of Qi where it has become unbalanced.  Once this is done Qi can move freely and circulate throughout the body providing adequate nourishment to cells, organs, glands, tissues and muscles.  This can eliminate pain and restore balance and harmony, as well as the body’s ability to heal itself-ultimately leading to optimum health and well-being.  Acupuncture combined with chiropractic is a safe, effective and drug-free therapy that can often help address a wide variety of common ailments and problems.

Consider utilizing acupuncture as a form of natural, safe and effective health care.
