Our massage therapists are proficient in an array of techniques including:

Myofascial Release Technique

Myofascial Release Technique is a manual therapy that uses gentle to firm sustained pressure to elongate and soften the fascia which is the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, nerves and even organs. This technique is used with little to no cream or oil to maintain a “hook” targeting deeper connective tissue in a more specific location.

Trigger Point Technique

Trigger Point Technique is used with client feedback to target hyperirritable adhesions in the muscle fibers that when compressed, create a referral pattern to other more distant parts of the body. When a trigger point is identified, the therapist may use their thumbs or elbows with consistent sustained pressure to reduce the intensity of the referral and tension as well as increase blood flow. Addressing trigger points consistently within sessions can reduce the referral pain cycle and help restore normal muscle function and tone.

Swedish Technique

Swedish Technique is often used to warm up the tissue, promote blood circulation and relaxation, and is typically used as transitioning strokes during therapeutic massage. Myofascial and Trigger Point are more dominate techniques used in therapeutic massage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you recommend chiropractic and massage?

Yes, they both complement each other. While chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the skeletal system and how it impacts the nervous system, massage focuses on the muscles of the body that support proper alignment and movement of those joints.

What should I wear to the massage appointment?

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing; however, therapeutic massage is usually performed with the client undressed. Rest assured that you will be appropriately draped at all times during your massage.

While most people undress completely, some elect to leave some clothing on such as underwear. You choose what level of comfort is right for you. Your massage therapist will respect your privacy at all times.

What will the massage feel like?

How the massage feels will depend on the techniques your therapist uses. Your session may begin with broad flowing strokes to initiate the relaxation process. Pressure will be gradually increased to relax particular areas and release bands of tight muscle.

Myofascial techniques or trigger point therapies can be applied with deeper pressure depending on the layer of muscle tissue needing work. The pressure should always be within your comfort level. If you would like to receive more or less pressure at any time, let your therapist know.
